Social Events

Social events include the visit of the famous village of Alberobello, a walk inside the "Grotte di Castellana" and the gala dinner at the Restaurant "Villa della Monica"

Alberobello

Alberobello, a small village declared "Unesco Heritage site", is 100 km north of Lecce, in the hearth of the valley "Valle d'Itria" and 428 meters above the sea level. It is famous for conical shaped small houses, best known as "trulli" .
A relaxed walk through the old town centre will bring you to the truly stunning monumental areas of Rione Monti and Aia Piccola and to the characteristic Casa d' Amore and the admirable Trullo Sovrano.

Grotte di Castellana

The "Grotte di Castellana" are caves which follow the course of an ancient underground river that filters down through the limestone subsoil of the Murge Hills. Discovered in 1938, they display an infinite variety of magnificent concretions: curtains, richly coloured stalactites and stalagmites. This grand spectacle reaches a climax at the White Cave, which glistens with calcite crystals.
